Intrinsic polarization-sensitive organic photodetector with self-assembled all-polymer heterojunction

Intrinsic polarization-sensitive photodetectors (IPPDs) have attracted considerable attention in recent years due to their simplicity configuration, making them ideal candidates for compact and integrated sensing imaging systems. Photoactive films with intrinsic optical anisotropy are necessary IPPDs. This study reports an achievement of photoactive based on all-polymer heterojunction in-plane using a simple bottom-up self-assembly method. Both the donor (TQ1) acceptor (N2200) polymers same spatial orientation distinct anisotropy, approaching dichroic ratio (DR) 8. Polarization-sensitive light absorption is uniaxially oriented polymer chains, which dominated by lamellar packing edge-on orientation. For IPPDs this anisotropic film, photocurrent was found polarized 2.6. The detectivity these be 1.9 × 10 11 Jones (@ ∼600 nm, 0 V bias). Our work shows that donor–acceptor fabricated great potential applications, such as polarization detection.
